Why Is the Food in My Refrigerator Frozen?
Is the food in your refrigerator compartment frozen? Warm, spoiled food is no fun, but frozen fruits and vegetables indicate some failures. Check our appliance repair post to know what to do in such a case scenario. Still, we always recommend calling a qualified service technician for any fixes.
Check Out Your Temperature Setting
Although the temperature setting can be manually adjusted for all refrigerator models, sometimes, that feature may have been accidentally automatically adjusted to a temperature level that all your items start to freeze. Check the temperature in both the refrigerator and the freezer. For optimal cooling, professionals suggest the fridge be set at 38-40℉, while the freezer should be around 0-2℉. If the thermostat is faulty, it should be replaced.
Blocked Air Vents
If you accidentally block the air vent, you will only get cold air in the fridge compartment. Make sure the vents are free and clear of any food products to ensure good airflow. Sometimes, the vents could be damaged, especially in older models. Then, your appliance repair technicians will have to replace them.
Is The Ice Maker On?
If you do not have a water supply hooked up to your refrigerator and the ice maker is in the On position, you will be getting a constant supply of cold air, and all your products will start to freeze. You will have ice in the compartment. If you do not currently use the ice maker, turn it off.
Damaged or Leaky Gaskets
The door sealants, also known as gaskets, are responsible for preventing air leaks. While you may associate broken seals with food being too warm (cold air escapes), it can also be the source of food becoming icy.
